About the Role

The successful candidate will become part of a multidisciplinary forensic mental health team supporting individuals receiving specialist mental health services. The role involves delivering professional social work support, participating in risk assessments, and contributing to care planning for patients.

The service covers several London boroughs, including Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, City of London, Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. While travel between boroughs may occasionally be required, office facilities are available across the service area.

Key Responsibilities

As a Social Worker, your responsibilities may include:

– Managing a professional caseload of patients receiving forensic mental health services.
– Working closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
– Contributing to comprehensive risk assessments and individual care plans.
– Preparing statutory reports, including reports for the Ministry of Justice and social circumstance reports.
– Representing the service at Mental Health Tribunals and other legal proceedings where required.
– Leading safeguarding investigations and ensuring appropriate social care interventions are implemented.
– Promoting recovery, independence, and positive outcomes for service users.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

– Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
– Recognised social work qualification such as CQSW, DipSW, or an equivalent qualification.
– Qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
– Significant post-qualification experience supporting individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions.

Desirable Experience

The employer would also welcome candidates who have:

– Previous experience supervising or managing junior staff.
– Experience contributing to service improvement or development initiatives.
